Visiting Hours
Just recently, Pol and his brother (Kuya Mon), had to go home to Urdaneta because of a family emergency. He received a phone call from home telling him that his mom (who just came in from the US for a vacation), had to be rushed to the ER because of a possible heart attack.
Of course, this was the kind of news or phonecall that you NEVER want to receive — but unfortunately, they did. He texted me that day (it was Good Friday) and he asked me to call him. That’s how I learned. They had to go home to the province to see what happened.
I knew how it felt as I also experienced this last year in June, when I received an emergency call from our neighbor about my tatay being rushed to the hospital due to a bad fall (you can read more about it from here). So I said, go, you need to go, your family needs you.
The usual camping at the hospital and watching over a family member was inevitable. It was comfort to be just there, near the loved one, just in case they need anything.
It was my off Easter Sunday, so I planned on going there to visit. In any case, this would be my first meeting with THE parents (hehe, ala-Meet the Parents!). But it was a situation wherein Pol also needed some comfort and a warm hug.
It was a good thing that by Monday, his mom was doing fine. No more tubes connected to anything nor the heart monitor that they were talking about.
Pol, his brother and his nephew went out that day she was about to be discharged and we bought flowers for her at this flowershop** in Urdaneta. Incidentally, it was her birthday too. She looked touched and happy to get those flowers.
So me and Pol went back to Manila the next day, knowing that all is well and that she’ll be alright.

**I just remembered, totally out of topic, this flowershop that we went to, has this sign that said: REST BOND. Figure it out.

Rest Bond? Are you sure that you went to a flowershop that supposed to have flowers that make people smile and feel alive???

Yep, we went to a flowershop alright — we laughed our ass off when we realized that REST BOND meant… WRIST BAND. As in like a corsage that you put on your wrist? Hahaha!

Oh shoot! really? I remember once I was shopping with friends at Tutuban and there was this cool shirt with this “wrinkled effect” on it, I asked the saleslady what’s it called, she sais; its unique. I said yeah it is. She frowned and she said its unique, you know like V-neck and round neck….
