Oktoberfest
(The thing about my entry titles is that, I write the whole blog first then think about the title of the entry. Whatever thought that’s going through my mind, I use it as a title. In this case, I chose “Oktoberfest” because this entry if just a “review” of how the past month was and how I’m looking forward to the new month – October!! I sound silly, huh? Well, me and my mind actually don’t get along that much these days… hahaha!
PPS: I wasn’t able to post this right away – busy times. But here it is!)
Another month just passed — one day you’ll just be surprised and you’ll realize it’s already 2007! Spending the last few weeks of August hanging out with George, Jordi, Jason and Joe kept us all busy. I realized that this is just the kind of thing that we need to remind us that we need some fun in our lives. Me and Jas was talking about it a few weeks back and we realized that what we have been doing was all work, work, work. That’s probably why we were all stressed out. That’s how we ended that month - we had so much fun that we were really sad to see them go. And then the new month started out with me training for another new team. Yep, that’s right - this girl got transferred again to another queue. Some think it’s no big deal, but think about this - you become an expert on one subject, then they ask you to study another topic where you need to be an expert on as well and after a month, they want you to study again, one that’s totally different from what you’ve been struggling to study. Despite that, you have a team of people you’ll be leaving behind, people who depends on your leadership. Difficult at first, it takes a lot of adjustment and as the old cliche goes, things have a way of working out. Hopefully, the Halfies have adjusted now. I am very much confident that they won’t be left behind because JR’s there and he’ll be able to take care of things - but then again, he’s only just one man and can handle only as much. Nevertheless, I’ll give them as much support as I can, just like I always have. Besides all that factors, the new challenges that faced me early this month was that I had to take care of this new team - 43 newly-hired agents, 1 newly hired Team Lead (hired from outside, didn’t come from Sprint) and a group of tenured reps (Kim, Pepot and Gracie). Boy was it a challenge! One thing about this business is that you can’t complain too much. Plus, you can’t choose the people who you will be spending time with. Sometimes you just have to be flexible and accept all the challenges that come your way. This entire group knew each other already - nothings sucks more when you try to be "absorbed" by a group of people who you have no idea what kind of personalities they have, including the way they think. Being a part of a team where everyone expects a lot from you, I cannot help but make sure everything goes smoothly with this new team. First week was crazy. I found it hard to concentrate while on training because I also had to take make sure that my previous team, with their new TL, will go through a smooth transition. I still had to take care of their stats for the previous week, so I had to do a lot of reports then. Challenges continued to come up: -Agents who seems to not understand that what I’m doing is for their own good -My straight to the point emails gave an impression that I was insensitive and too strict (when in fact, I was just giving them what they needed to know) I can just go on and on but I’ll sound like I’ll be complaining, so I’ll stop. It was a month where I think I was tested in so many ways. If I was someone else, I would have given up. But I’m a patient human being, so here I am, psyching up to another new team that I’ll be finally handling. We go LIVE tomorrow. On my team, I’ll have 22 agents. I don’t know them very well, but I hope I get to know them enough to understand how they work and how they will work with me and the team. One thing about being a supervisor, you just have to think and believe that everything will work out. If it’s a totally different set of people you’ll be with, then you just have to have faith in them to make the team successful. You may not know everything, but you’ll find ways to make sure that you assist and support them all the way. Cheers to another month and another team!
